33 The Oaks St
Colby Hill Inn was established in 1959 on an historic property that dates back to 1797 along the scenic Currier & Ives Scenic Byway and the Contoocook River in Henniker, New Hampshire. The inn features 14 distinctive and well-furnished guest accommodations, including two luxury suites. Under the new direction and ownership of Chef Proprietor Bruce Barnes, formerly the Senior Executive Chef at the World Bank in Washington, D.C, the inn’s 60-seat restaurant was relaunched in February 2016 as The Grazing Room. The Grazing Room is driven by availability from our partnerships with local farms. Chef Barnes The Grazing Room at Colby Hill Inn was the third restaurant to receive Certified Local status at our Gold Level, indicating it received a score of 90% on our certification point system.
Supporting local farms fits squarely into the owners’ overall commitment to sustainable management of the inn. With 4.7 acres and parking for +40 cars, the property offers a swimming pool; fields, gardens, and a gazebo; and a charming 100 x 40 foot classic New England barn. The inn is a unique lodging, dining and event venue in an area that offers skiing at nearby Pat’s Peak, biking, hiking, kayaking, fly fishing, covered bridges, cultural destinations and antique shops. Henniker is also home to New England College, and we are the closest country inn to St. Paul’s School and the city of Concord
